China Press Culture Promotion Association (referred to as: New Promotion Association) was established in 1989. It is a professional, national, non-profit social organization registered by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and formed by relevant units and individuals in the national press. The superior unit is the General Administration of Press and Publication. The English name is China Media Culture Promotion Association (English abbreviation: CMCPA). The fifth council chairman is Li Dongdong, former deputy director of the General Administration of Press and Publication. The honorary chairman is Sun Jiazheng, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Chi Haotian, former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission.
On November 26, 2018, the Ministry of Civil Affairs announced the evaluation results of the 2017 National Industry Association Chamber of Commerce, and the China News Culture Promotion Association was rated 3A.
